What is the Postdoc Loyalty Program?

The Postdoc Loyalty Program is an engaging initiative designed to recognize and reward postdocs for their active involvement and meaningful contributions to SOPS activities throughout the year. Postdocs earn points by attending workshops, volunteering, contributing to the newsletter, and joining the Postdoc Happy Hour. Rewards are based on total points accumulated, with the top three postdocs receiving first, second, and third prizes. Additionally, 20 participation prizes will be awarded to the next highest scorers. Winners will be honored at the SOPS Annual Symposium, with their achievements highlighted in the newsletter and on social media to foster a sense of community and engagement.

Top Prizes
  • First Prize: $100 gift card 
  • Second Prize: $75 gift card
  • Third Prize: $50 gift card
Participation Prizes
  • $10 gift cards for the next 20 highest scorers.
  • Branded SOPS swag (e.g., notebooks, water bottles, tote bags) for all other engaged postdocs as available

Acknowledgment

Announcement and Ceremony

Winners will be announced at the SOPS Annual Symposium to celebrate their contributions. Prizes will be distributed in person at the symposium or mailed to winners unable to attend.

Newsletter feature

Winners will be featured in the SOPS newsletter and on social media platforms to promote their achievements and encourage participation.

Tracking and Updates

Points are awarded based on attendance and participation recorded at SOPS events. Regular email updates will keep participants informed about their points and rankings.

End of Program

The program will close one week before the annual symposium to calculate and finalize winners.

Point Allocation System

Points are awarded for active participation in SOPS events and contributions throughout the year. Below is the detailed scoring structure:

Activity Points
Attending an event 10 points
Volunteering at an event 10 points
Contributing an article for the newsletter 10 points
Participating in a competition (e.g. poster competition) 25 points
Attending a Postdoc Happy Hour 10 points
Example

A participant who attends two workshops (10 points x 2), volunteers once (10 points), and writes a postdoc newsletter article (10 points) will earn 40 points, making them eligible for a participation prize and potentially competing for top prizes.
