Dr. Oscar J. Vazquez Ciros
Executive Committee Member
Oscar is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics at the University of Kentucky. His research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms that regulate the transition of Streptococcus agalactiae from a commensal organism to an invasive pathogen. He also investigates how this bacterium controls the expression of its virulence factors in response to changes in population density. Outside the lab, Oscar enjoys watching movies, playing volleyball, and sharing drinks with friends at the bar.
