Food: We will be providing food from Athenian Grill, but we will definitely appreciate it if you can bring a dish to pass around as well - we want you to bring foods from your own cultures and traditions as a way of learning more about each other. So bring one of your fun culinary favorites to the picnic. If you aren’t able to bring a home cooked meal, you can also bring a fruit plates, veggie trays, etc., too. And if you aren’t able to bring food, that’s okay too! We are happy just to have you in attendance! We will provide drinks. Note also, this is an alcohol-free event.
Parking and Location: The event will take place at the Arboretum State Botanical Garden (500 Alumni Dr, Lexington, KY 40503). There is a parking lot right off Alumni Drive (see squared area below). From there, it is a short walk to the picnic area (see circled area below). We plan to set up in the picnic area or very close to it. The Arboretum is a public space, so it is possible that other people will be using the picnic tables. If that’s the case, we will set up close to the circled area and make it very clear where to go.
Other Important Information: As mentioned above, this is a public space which means we may not be able to secure every picnic table out there. That means seating will be limited. Please bring a chair for yourself and your guests if you can. Better yet, if you have extra chairs, please consider bringing those as well. We hope to make this a very fun and engaging event, so please also feel free to bring yard games, balls, frisbees, etc.
